About Nicole

From a young age, Nicole has had a unique ability to connect with people while gaining their trust. She grew up in Nashwaak Bridge, New Brunswick, a small, close-knit, caring community. Nicole’s family was deeply rooted in the community and when she wasn’t swimming in the river, she was at the church hall helping at community events.

Nicole needed to quickly learn social dynamics and politeness, while understanding the benefits of working through conflicts rather than going around them.

Nicole left Nashwaak Bridge and went to the Philippines to pursue her dreams of working for human rights. While visiting that country’s Indigenous communities, she was often the first white person seen by children beyond their television screens. In those circumstances, Nicole learned the importance of understanding community culture and remaining respectful of values and customs unfamiliar to her.

Returning to Canada after one year, she earned her master’s degree in Dispute Resolution from the University of Victoria. Nicole subsequently joined The Government of Canada, traveling with a negotiation team tasked to negotiate with Indigenous communities in The Northwest Territories. Nicole recently brought her talents back to her home province, hoping to foster positive, compassionate workplace culture in New Brunswic.
